There’s a lot to love about the Wayne, NJ area. Farny State Park is just over half an hour’s drive from Wayne. Access can be found through the Farny Natural Area, where plenty of parking is available.


Ringwood State Park is best known for its crystal-clear lake, luscious woodland, and wide-open sky views. It’s a heavenly slice of New Jersey beauty, sure to help you relax and forget your worries. For hiking enthusiasts, Wawayanda State Park is the place to be. This vast state park is home to more than 60 miles of hiking trails, including a section of the Appalachian Trail. The paths take in some of the most stunning views in the state, passing by mixed woodland, a lake, swampland, and rocky outcrops.

Wawayanda State Park also features a range of opportunities for recreation, including a swimming beach, fishing spots, picnic areas, and even a campground. The park is around a 45-minute drive from Wayne and access can be found off Warwick Turnpike.


Not every state park is focused on natural beauty. Some, like Liberty State Park, focus more on urban views. This unique outdoor space boasts clear views of the Manhattan skyline, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. In the park itself, there’s a wide range of walking trails and picnic areas.

The park is located in Jersey City. While lots of parking is available, it can get busy on weekends and holidays, so arrive early to be sure to find a spot.
